Don't Toss It

Have you ever been tidying up and just toss someone else's mail? Don't do it. A legal code since 1948 says there is a federal law against chucking someone else's mail. There could be a $250,000 fine and up to 5 year in prison. Ouch!

I did not that tossing someone's mail can get me in trouble with the law.

NO, this is something I would never do, I give to the person. Of course in case of a deceased person you can if you are one of the legal heirs.

I've had to clean up other people's messes that included unopened mail.

I wouldn't toss someone else's mail but I didn't know it was illegal.

Wow! I always put the mail back in the mailbox if it's not for me; but I didn't know that the fines and prison time were so strict!
