I can’t tell how fast I’m going.

Two days ago I was in a 40mph zone, and I looked at my speedometer to make sure that was what I was driving. Much to my surprise, the arrow was going from 0 miles per hour to 40, dropping down, then back up, and then back down. I immediately called my dad, and he said he’ll get a friend of his to look at it. This friend is a genius on cars. Anyway, it’s not a constant thing, but it does make driving a little tricky. Anyone ever experience that?

No, I guess maybe the speedometer or odometercable broke or something.I had a car where the gas tankindicator was totally unreliable. I ran out of gas once with that stupid thing. One thing in traffic court alot of people plead the speedometer issue..because it is less points and cheaper than a speeding ticket.

I drove one for years without a working speedometer. I just went by how fast others were going

We've only had it once. Almost as bad is a speedo that isn't correct which means you're going faster/slower than you thought.

I've never had that problem; and now I don't have a car.

We had a small car that was extremely reliable and we kept for years and years, in the 90's. Honday Civic that ran half of forever, it seemed. The odometer croaked and no one ever knew how fast they were going. We had a friend who ran a repair garage, he scared up a new odometer and put it in. Nope, that wasn't it. He replaced wiring, etc. Then the new one worked--for about a month. We did it again, a different replacement. It didn't work at all. We gave up...for the most part, at the time that little Honda stayed ''in town'' for the remainder of it's life, which was 2 more years. But that was quite some time ago, I am sure yours can be fixed easier with today's technology. Just be careful until it's fixed!

We have not had anything like that on any of our cars over the years. That would be pretty scary, I hope that his friend can get it fixed soon for you. I rely heavily on my speedometer because I have a heavy foot.

You gotta be careful about getting a ticket for either driving too fast or too slow.
