Today rain came and pured heavily on us

I had a somewhat different day today. The entire day was rather hot and muggy until late in the afternoon, when my wife complained that she couldn't get home because it was pouring heavily where she was. I could hear thunder nearby, but it was not raining where I was. I eventually saw what she had been describing, though. It was the first time it had rained in nearly a month and a half. But it doesn't appear to have cooled things down yet, I couldn't say it was a relief, but I could sense that the wet season was approaching soon.

@rakski Yes and forecast has just reported that rainy season is about to begin. They are just waiting for some events to happen to officially declare that rainy season has started. There is also a looming typhoon near us but is not expected to enter our lands but is expected further north to Japan islands.

They just announced it and are waiting for certain criteria to officially declare the wet season. But judging by the weather, gloomy days are common, and short bursts of rain happen every now and then. It’s just not as intense yet.

@allen0187 I agree, the temperature has become much more tolerable lately. I’m finally able to sleep comfortably at night since it’s significantly cooler than it has been in previous days. If these rains turn into a daily routine, I suspect the temperatures will stabilize and feel much better in the coming days.

@rsa101 true that. Although it has been raining more frequently in the past few days.

I hate when it rains, but doesn’t cool off the muggy landscape. I’m glad you got rain though if it had been over six weeks since you got any.

The rain I was describing was really strong, even causing flooding in some areas. But it wasn’t enough to cool things down. The humidity has actually gotten even worse now. I think it will take several days of rain before the weather finally cools off here.

Rain is probably better than unrelenting heat and humidity.

That is true after having been exposed for too long having rain is welcome change. What’s not good is the effect of it getting flooded in some areas where the soil has been really dried hard water is not easily absorbed by it resulting to flooding in some areas.

@snowy22315 This is a welcome change for the farmers to start planting again since soil are being rained down again. They just pray that no storms will happen any time soon so their crops can grow safely till harvest time.

@rsa101 Yes, they have had some flooding in the Southern part of the state. They have been in drought too long.

I suppose it’s a global phenomenon, but ours is quite different. Yours might be due to the shift from spring to summer, while we’re heading from summer into the wet season.

@TheHorse It’s difficult to be certain, but most of us in Southeast Asia are currently experiencing the wet season, while those in the US are transitioning into summer, followed by autumn and winter. Here in Asia, the wet season generally continues until the end of the year.

Good for you, there is an ongoing storm near our place but forecast say it wouldn't be makng a landfall and would proceed northwards toward Japan area.

We had rain yesterday in the morning but I was able to get the washing dry outside. It rained during the night and is very overcast and dark out there at the moment. We'll get more rain today no doubt.

It seems like the rains are connected, but I think they’re actually independent in each location.

@rsa101 Yes, I think they are independent. It's our winter so we expect rain over the next 3-4 months.

If there’s more of this kind of rain, it might be something to note, but it only happened yesterday, and today it’s sunny again.

@rsa101 Yes, I know. That is why hubby and I usually are at our home in the Philippines during winter in Germany as it is cooler there.

Most times a downpour of rain does little to cool down humid weather. But it is welcome anyway.

Yeah l guess a little rain would help but my wife complained of venturing to floods along the way because it wa heavy rains that poured in their place. Good thing she was ble to come home safely just drenched from the floods.

Yeah it’s both a blessing and a curse in our place. For farmers it could come a blessing that can start planting once again. But for us in the city it could mean harder to travel because of floods, landslides and the likes.

i hate humidity before and after the rain. it is possible that it rains in one part and not in the other; it happens here too.

It’s happening here too. My wife works several kilometers away, and sometimes it rains there before it reaches my place. The weather forecasters just announced that the rainy season is about to be declared once the criteria they’re waiting for are met. They say that continuous rain for several days will be the sign that the wet season has begun.

@valherma00 I think your rain is different from ours, as yours comes in the summer while ours marks the start of the official rainy season. Our summers are very dry, with no rain at all during that time.

It’s nice to know it rained there and watered the plants. It’s a good chance for the drying ones to get some water and avoid drying out completely.
