How do you keep your kitchen clean while cooking?

To be honest, this is definitely a weak spot for me! My husband always jokes whenever he walks in on me mid-meal. He’ll find a sink overflowing with dirty bowls, spoons, and pots. The counter is usually buried under vegetable peels, and spice jars take over every inch of countertop space. He always laughs and says, "A messy kitchen leads to a super delicious meal!"I usually clean everything up after we finish eating, but I'd love to change that. What are your best tips for keeping the kitchen tidy and organized while you cook?

I clean as I go. I peel vegetables and immediately throw the pills. As soon as I do not need a bowl anymore I wash it and store. Usually my kitchen is clean while the meal is cooking.

@Shasha_ - In the beginning I also had the kitchen that was a total mess. Little by little I learned to keep it clean as I go.

Before my marriage my mother used to cook. After my marriage my wife took the responsibility. Our kitchen has been always clean. Both my mother and my wife love cleanliness. They both keep the kitchen near and clean

@Shasha_ Thank you Yes, I'm lucky to have a loving mother and a loving wife. My wife's house is in this very town. Before marriage also she used to keep her house clean. My mother, on the other hand, is a simple lady. She takes her bath early in the morning, at 4.30 a.m. Both are very soft spoken ladies. Both work hard from evening to night.

I just do a little at a time. Throw away peels in the trash when I’m done, wipe up a spill with a paper towel…it doesn’t always keep everything in line how it should be, but it certainly ups your odds.

That is such a beautiful and realistic way to look at it! One little step at a time truly makes the biggest difference, and consistency always beats perfection.

When I simmer or boiling or just have some time without doing anything, I will start washing and cleaning and leave the utensils or things that I still need for the cooking

My kitchen doesn’t get that messy when I cook. I don’t leave spice jars, ingredients, peels, or spills lying around. As soon as I’m done using something, I put it right back where I got it instead of leaving it on the counter. I also wash things as I go. For example, if I’m waiting for something to boil or simmer, I’ll use that time to wash the utensils and bowls I’ve already used instead of letting them pile up in the sink. I think it’s all about having a system and cleaning as you go so the mess never gets out of hand.
