An anchor chain recycled as a foot rest

Here is another photo from the evening we spent sampling wines and listening to classical music. Years ago, bars had a footrest against the bar where patrons could rest one foot or the other. This bar has a heavy chain as a footrest but it suits the décor very well. It’s an old anchor chain and much of the timber in the room has been recycled from an old jetty.

They have made good use of all sorts of second-hand items.

@JudyEv — doesn’t matter, my ship was what we call the USS Neversails (never sails, as in a mockup but not a real ship). The only Navy vessels I went on were a British destroyer, the USS John F. Kennedy (my brother’s ship, and for a tour), and the ships that are museums now.

I think so too. I'm always pleased when I can re-use something.

Most of the recycling stuff has come from an old jetty. The place is called Chalet Rigi. Years ago, we went there and the entertainment was people playing Alpine horns. The place has been closed for a while but will open in a few weeks

@Ronrybs It's so long ago I can't remember what they sounded like. I was just intrigued by the length of them.

@JudyEv For some reason, I don't find the Alpine horns very entertaining!

@JudyEv Yes, it does. If I had a "home bar," I'd consider something like this for sure. Especially being a Navy man.

It will never be stolen that's for sure. It would be incredibly heavy.

Provided it was tight and did not swing, it would make a durable footrest.

It is tight and is too heavy to move easily.

It would work equally as well as a metal bar.
