Sleep is a very important body function. While we sleep our bodies do a lot of healing and other important things.
A lack of sleep disrupts your bodie's sleep/wake cycle, raises your blood sugar and lowers leptin, another hormone that helps you feel full.

I rarely sleep; and my blood sugar is borderline diabetic. Wish I could do something about that.

Maybe if you work on getting more sleep. Lack of it can really cause problems.

Yes, and if they don't it can cause a lot of trouble.

I'm sure inadequate sleep is one of the causes of the current increase in obesity. In the old days people would go to bed soon after dark. Then more recently they would go to bed once TV transmission ended, at midnight. Now they are more tempted to stay up later and later watching videos or scrolling...

Too much stress and technology. People don't sleep like they used to. I put the timer on so if I fall asleep the tv will go off in an hour. I get on YouTube and could be there all night.

That's true. We need to get 7-8 hours consistently.
