Good way-too-early morning! I have three, count ‘em three appointments at the VA hospital today. All scheduled and routine, and two of them are dental (a filling and a cleaning). It’s just getting up to be there at the first appointment that’s annoying. Retirement problems, right?
Let’s sing along with a great song (which almost made the top ten part of this list) that mentions the Beatles.
Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World Is Today) - The Temptations
Great rap song, huh?
You may know this song and not even know there’s a Beatles reference in it! It flies by, just like many of the lines (“evolution, revolution, gun control, sound of soul”) that sound like they were written yesterday. Nope. This is from 1970, with the great Temptations putting their boogie foot down on problems in the world.
“Suicide, too many bills, hippies moving to the hills, people all over the world shouting, ‘End the war.’” Yeah, that’s 2026 as much as it was 1970.
We haven’t learned a thing, have we.
Ball of Confusion (That’s What the World Is Today)
Written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong
Recorded by The Temptations
Released as a single, 1970
BEATLE REFERENCE LYRICS:
Unemployment rising fast, the Beatles’ new record’s a gas

The lyrics fly by, so it’s understandable if you don’t hear it the first 8,000 times.

This was a big hit, so I’m not that surprised. But still…really???

It really is sad that from 1970 until now this song is still right on the money,

I suppose the only word they’d need to change is “hippies.” Other than that, modern headlines.

I do enjoy the Love and Rockets cover as well. Classic Temptations!

Oh, yes, that Love & Rockets version is terrific.
For those who’ve never heard their version:

The yuppies took over the hills, but that’s the only difference.
