...so about 2 weeks ago, I saw an online job for Pidgin English translators... I applied and they told me I got the job... They said there would be a Zoom meeting with other translators and we were told to read a book on team building which they said they’d provide for free.. Two days later, they sent another email saying they couldn’t get the book, and gave us a link to buy it ourselves. I was surprised...why should we buy it?? I emailed them asking why we have to pay for a book for a job they’re offering us. They didn’t respond properly. Later, they sent another link on Amazon saying we have to buy the book we’re supposed to translate, and that they’ll “compensate” us later... meaning we are buying two books.. doesn't sound right at all This whole thing feels very scammy to me. You want me to work for you but I have to first buy the material myself? Has anyone experienced something like this before? Aren't they supposed to provide the material we will translate for free? Everything is not adding up Well, I feel it's not legit and I have since ignored any email from them.

Obviously it's a scam. It's their way of making people buy that book. I hate it when people trick others to do things for their own selfish benefit.

Glad you didn't do what they told you to do. Can you imagine what would happen if you bought their books?

Go with your instincts, it does sound like a scam. Best to stop communicating with them.

That certainly sounds like a scam and you would be paying out money for a long time and getting none. You got me curious I found this online you can take a look

I have dealt with dealers who have sent me emails saying that I have won money from a sweepstakes but to get the prize money I had to send them a fee to collect my winnings which I found out that it is a scam.
