We had no power for hours tonight.

It finally came back on a little while ago. There were some counties north and west of us that got massive amounts of rain--we had a lot but not as much. Anyway, it sure took us down with no power...and we have had such a hot and humid day. It was just miserable inside, and way too dark and wet to go outside.
I honestly feel sorry for the members here that live in a hot country and go for days without power. I don't know how they stand it. I am not a fan of really hot weather. And next week it's going to be even hotter...ugh.

I am not fond of really hot weather at all. It just makes me miserable. When the power goes down, there are no fans, no air conditioning, no cool air from anywhere, and it's just miserable. I don't know how you manage it so much...and I am sure sorry you have to.

It makes me admire our forefathers even more. I know we are spoiled with electricity but of course we expect it to work, we grew up with it. The pioneers with no AC, no heating systems, just a fireplace that they had to use for cooking no matter how hot the weather, it must have been just exhausting.

@MarieCoyle - It was an emergency, a ball of air clogged the water flow in the pipes going to the aqueduct. As it happened on Sunday late afternoon we had to wait until Monday morning to get the water flowing.

That would be a pain, you are right. Were you told ahead of time, or was it an emergency?

I should be used to the humidity by now, but the last few years it’s really hit me hard. And I have to agree with you, it takes a very long time to get the power back on again!!

We were supposed to have a 12 hour power outage today but fortunately it didn't last that long.
We have gen set for such though so we don't really suffer much from the outage. And it was really hot during the day.

I am glad that you said you didn’t suffer much. Twelve hours or more at a time would be very hard in the heat.

I was very blessed when I was without power for a week when Hurricane Ike came through. The temperatures for the week afterward were very pleasant, which allowed me to have my windows open. It wasn’t like a hurricane hitting Florida or Louisiana, where it leaves and there’s 95-degree heat and 95% humidity in its wake.

Thank goodness it is back on. Power outages in hot weather is the worst.

I am sorry that your area was without power yesterday.
We had a lovely breeze yesterday which helped and made it enjoyable to be outside, although it also makes you forget the sun's strength. When I woke up this morning I noticed that both of my arms are sun burned red which I probably got while watching the girl's soccer yesterday morning. I felt cold and the way I burned it is evident that I did not have my arms straight, but bent at the elbows. I have to get into the habit of spraying on some sun screen in the mornings when I am not working.

Sorry to hear you had a power outage & I hope it did not last too long. I feel sorry for those who really suffer with extreme heat & humidity. My house is an old victorian house freezing in the winter & hot in the summer months. We keep windows & blinds closed during the heat waves & it is nice & cool.

I do hope the power doesn't go off again. It's so hard to keep cool on a really hot day if you don't have A/C.

One of my selfish fears is our a/c going out in the middle of Summer. I can't take extreme heat anymore
