What's the longest power outage you experienced?

A week ago, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines announced a 12 hour power outage for June 7th from 6am to 6pm.
12 hours is too long. Fortunately, we have gen set at the store and at home so we really didn't suffer much. Usual operation continued.
Small businesses had to close down though coz they really couldn't function without power. And it was too hot during the day.
Fortunately, the outage didn't last for 12 hours. The power was restored just before 3 in the afternoon.

I remember that a few years ago, when we still lived in Switzerland, the power Grid Corporation had to perform a major upgrade. They announced a 4 hours power outage during the night, from 1 am to 5 am. I think it lasted less, but I was sleeping so I cannot know.

That's very considerate of them. When Power Grids do an upgrade here they usually do so only during day time and on weekends.

@toniganzon - They did during the night and apologized to those who used AC, as it was done during the month of August because many were not at home. August is vacation time here in Europe.

I hate power outages. I think the longest one I have ever experienced is about 3-4 hours. That was when a transformer went down.

@celticeagle Sure. Who wouldn't love the convenience?
I can only imagine me not sleeping without an airconditoiner. I can't function well without the internet. I could survive a few days but an eternity without it after having experienced life with it, I simply cannot anymore.

That's really terrible. The longest power outage I experienced I think was many years ago when Yolanda hit us hard. Took over a month for the power to be restored. But that was because there was a calamity.
But on normal days, we hardly experience any power outage at all unless they have to fix something in the power grid or an upgrade is being done but no longer than a day.

Calamity is different from regular days. It was terrible. Good thing we have somewhere to go to. The eczema of kids flared up due to heat

The longest power outage happened about two years ago which lasted about three hours around lunchtime due to a small problem with a transformer.

4 days is way too long. The longest one I experienced was several years ago when a destructive typhoon killed thousands of people and caused a lot of damage inlacing power lines. No power for over a month I think. But fortunately we have gen sets and didn't suffer much from lack of electricity.

We had 3 day power outages two times in the last 20 years, usually it is just a a few hours if there is a power outage.

In September 2008, we had the remnants of Hurricane Ike come through Kentucky. My power was out from noon on Sunday until 8:30 PM the following Sunday, or 176 1/2 hours.

The longest one I had experienced was when a destructive typhoon killed thousands of people and damaged the power line. Took over a month for things to get fixed.

We had a hurricane back in 1989 and we had no power for many weeks. My grandmother and I had to stay with my uncle who had power.

Same thing happened here many years ago. It took over a month for the power to be restored because of a very destructive typhoon that killed thousands of people and caused a lot of damage.

We had an ice storm many years ago; and the power was out for 3 days. That was terrible because it was so cold in the house. We only had the fireplace to heat us.

Fortunately you had the fireplace. WE couldn't survive without an air conditioner. Fortunately we have a gen set wihen that happens so we still have power.

Even just a day without a gen set, I wouldn't be able to tolerate it.
