Howdy from South Carolina, where I’m indulging in Chuy’s after listening to “Hickory Wind” (opening line: “In South Carolina there’s many tall pines”) since I crossed the state line. I’ll finish lunch and give you another Paul McCartney classic before exploring the beauty of the place. Here’s today’s song.
I Will (Beatles)
Have I mentioned that I don’t care for “the White Album”? And yet here’s the second song from that album on the list. (The first was “Blackbird.”) There’s too much cacophony on the album for my tastes. Still, there are good songs on the album: the rockin’ “Back in the USSR” (not on the list), “Rocky Raccoon” (also not on the list, but you can find endless references to the song in South Dakota along I-80
), and “Julia” are among the highlights. I think it would have been a killer single album. I think it would have even been a better double album without “Revolution #9.”
Anyway, here’s Paul, in less than two minutes, pouring out his heart about love. This one is probably about Linda instead of Jane Asher, his former girlfriend (who’s the sister of Peter Asher of Peter and Gordon fame and later Linda Ronstadt’s producer, you’re welcome
). It’s short and sweet and to the point: “I’m in love.”
And oh is it so sweet.
PS: George didn’t play on this. It’s Paul on most of the instruments (and the vocals), John on maracas, and Ringo on bongos.

Billy Bob used to sing "Blackbird" as well. He was a big Beatles fan, for a bear.

It was all those “honey” songs the Beatles did that got Billy Bob hooked. “Honey Pie” and “Honey Don’t.” What’s a bear to do???

It’s a free country, so you don’t have to.

Kinda @FourWalls but I stopped being their fan right around 1967 or so.

I know, or “Back in the USSR” or “Birthday,” the rocking Beatles songs on this album.

Oh, another deep cut "I Will" need to investigate! Paul and Linda were such soulmates. I hate that cancer took her from him and the children. Do we know why George didn't play on this one?

There was a lot of fragmentation going on during this album…or, he may just not have been in the studio when they recorded the take they liked.

Don’t you have to be observed? By the principal or your cats (or both?)
