With all the new developments going up in our county, and the heat it seems that the wildlife has come out and into our small town. We have known bears have been in the higher elevations of our county as long as we have lived here. But the past couple of years they have ventured down to our area. Our police department put out a warning this morning as a black bear was spotted about 1/4 mile from our home. Here is what they said; "While we appreciate our wildlife visitors, we kindly ask residents to remember that this is not Smokey Bear’s meet-and-greet tour. Please do not feed, approach, or attempt to take selfies with the bear. For your safety: • Keep a safe distance and allow the bear plenty of space. • Do not feed the bear or leave pet food outside. • Secure garbage cans and remove any food sources that may attract wildlife. • Keep pets on a leash and supervise them while outdoors. • If you encounter the bear, remain calm, slowly back away, and do not run. The bear is simply passing through and would much rather avoid you than meet you. Let’s help keep both our residents and our furry visitor safe. And remember, if the bear starts asking for a driver’s license, it’s definitely not one of our officers." The first line cracked me up. Glad they have a good sense of humor. Do you have a lot of wildlife in your area?

Sure do..There is a bear that lives in a development a few miles from here and has for years. They have been caught in doorbell cams from time to time here too. That wasa cute line from the police. Someone obviously has a sense of humor

That’s funny. I have seen people around the world try to get pictures with bears. It’s crazy. The most dangerous wildlife we have around here is coyotes, and they don’t really mess with you if you leave them alone. Oklahoma has bears, but not around where I live.

It's funny but I hope the people in your area take it seriously. I hate when a wild animal has to pay the price for human stupidity.

Just now
That's a good notice I think. The injection of a bit of humour never goes astray.
