Today is the first official day of summer holidays for our grade school students. High schools end their year at different times depending on a student's exam timetable.
Grandpa and some of the parents of children from the playgroup have made plans to go out to a place in the next town over today. They have a little farm there. They are going berry picking. It is strawberry season here, and there is nothing sweeter and more delicious than freshly picked strawberries.
I hope that they did not get hit by the storm that passed through last night.
Their website advertises that blueberries and raspberries will be ready to pick next week. I am not certain that I would like to pick my own berries next week. Raspberries grow on a bush that has prickles on it. But buying them there may be another option.
Do you like berry picking?

The girls are adorable.
Yeah, I remember how scratched up I'd get trying to get to a ripe raspberry when dad was stationed in Germany.
Does your area also have orchards for things like pears or apples?

It's OK, honestly I have only picked blackberries, a small bit of blueberries and strawberries. Blackberries have prickers too, so you have to watch yourself. When I was a little kid my neighbors grew raspberries and they were so sweet. A red raspberry is my favorite berry.
