62 days until September 1...Bring it on! Anyway, today is the first official day of the heatwave with temps predicted to be near 100 or above for the next several days.Yay, us. It is deceptively cool out right now. It was only 71 last night and when I woke up it was balmy and warm, and the temps haven't climbed much yet. Anyway, hopeful the AC will be good throughout this marathon. Since it is an old system I was discussing alternatives with chat GPT if it failed..I mentioned that I had a portable back up unit. Former roomies used to use it in their bedroom, as they never thought I had it cool enough in here during the summer. I don't know how it works exactly, and Chat GPT was able to give me a run down. It used to keep the bedroom very cool, but would probably work out here as well. I guess I should check it out..just super in case. Actually if I used that more it would probably save on the electric bill during the heat wave, but it is a bit of a monstrosity. We will see. I hate dealing with mechanical stuff. Friend got me one of those robotic dogs and it took me forever just to take it out of the box and put the batteries in. It's cute, but probably not going to keep it. It is more of a child's toy. It sings nursery songs. Now, why would he think I would want that?

I hope your heatwave will not be as monstrous as predicted. The thunderstorm announced is here, it's nice and cool now. I have seen those robotic dogs. I agree that's child's stuff.

The kind I want is one that comes when you call it, and can do tricks and stuff. This one barks a little, walks, wags its tail..and plays music. I thought Nico might get a kick out of it, but he is a bit intimidated. He especially didn't like it when it walked over near his food dish... He ran over to watch it intently.

@snowy22315 I can imagine Nico being very upset when the robodog walked near his food. Poor kitty.

It seems like summer has ended where you are. We just wrapped up our season with temperatures reaching up to 46°C (114°F) at its peak. Now we’re in the 28–30°C range, which feels much cooler but still fairly warm. Hopefully, it will turn milder in your area soon.

@snowy22315 I see, I think it’s like our April-May heat when no rain comes and it can get scorchingly hot to be outside. People usually stay indoors or head to the malls or beaches to cool themselves.

July is our hottest month, but hopefully after this heatwave, it will be good for a few weeks. Late summer heat waves are never as bad as far as I am concerned, because the days are shorter and the humidity is usually less.

That’s kind of sweet that he got it for you. Even if it doesn’t make much sense. I’m glad you have some sort of backup for your air conditioner.

Yes, when I get bored, I will probably check it out. It's hot outside, but cool in here with the ceiling fan on. Later on though will probably have to turn the AC on.

Good morning, lunch or whatever time it is there now. I am just finishing a bowl of chicken soup for lunch. It is terribly hot here today, but sunny, and we are sitting watching the Canada Day festivities in the a/c on the TV which are televised live from Ottawa.

That is the way to do it. This one group here, that I am loosely affiliate with is insisting on marching JUly 4. 4 to 9 PM. in the local parade. No way, it is going to be hot as blazes and humid to boot. It is always too hot to March in the JUly 4 parade, but especially this year! The one guy who is kind of a leader in the group isn't young either we are probably the same age, or he might be a bit older. He used to look young, but lately has been showing his age. He also always wears jeans..Can you imagine marching out there in the heat and humidity with leans on?

That was nice that he bought something to make you smile, even though it's sort of a child's toy. Sometimes, something silly and unnecessary can mean a lot, especially if it brings on smiles.

I am not terribly worried about it. I am generally very sparing with the both heat and AC, the unit actually looks new so I am hoping it has a few years of life left in it.

I'm not good at mechanical stuff either. Hope you don't need to figure it out. My a/c is running and I also have a few fans scattered around to keep the air circulating. Should be fine unless the power goes out

I have the ceiling fan on now, and also have a tower fan. They are very effective together.
