This plant is Monarda, also called Bee Balm, and even called Bergamot because it is said to smell like the bergamot that flovors Earl Grey tea. I planted it as a small start last year. This year it grew very tall in a large pot.And it bloomed. As a coincidence there was a framed 8x10 photo or print of this very same plant, same color blooms, on the wall in Bob's room in the ICU. He noticed, looked at, and read everything on the walls. After a couple of days he was moved to the regular hospital floor, and coincidentally, there was another framed print of this plant on his wall. Same location. Only difference was that in the foreground a tiger swallow tail had landed on the flowers. Bob said to him it looked as if it was flapping it's wings. I reassured him it was just a picture and it was perfectly still. This has been a fun plant for us this year

You must have done a great job. It sure is a pretty plant. You have a magic touch, and how unusual to have such a connection to it.

This is so pretty. How cool that it turned up in the hospital wards and now in your garden. I don't think I've heard of it but it could have another name here.

I like it that Bob is impressed with the picture of the plant in this post.
