Where is this wind coming from ....had to rescue a table...

Oh my days, it has got very windy here. Earlier I heard a loud bump ...I peeped round the curtain to see what had happened. The wind had blown the plastic chair over. The one we keep on the balcony at the caravan. That's all ....what a relief ...I went out and picked it up and returned it to it's proper place. I thought nothing of it really .... A while later I opened the caravan door and used the plastic table to prop it open ... Oh crikey !..... The wind came up again and blew the table not only over but it went hurtling along the balcony. The door then blew shut ! What a clatter it caused. Table was rescued from the far end of the balcony and set at a different angle so it wouldn't get blown away again. The door was left closed until a little while ago. Hopefully, the wind has died down a bit now ... With all the hot weather we have been having recently you don't expect this .... Have you lost items during bad winds ?

@traceyjayne Only thing I’ve ever lost during very bad and loud wind was my dignity. I’m normally quite discreet, but sometimes when it comes upon you unexpectedly it just dips out and makes a terrible noise and people turn round to see who did it.

@Traceyjayne Especially a boxer - they know all about wind. Couldn’t have a boxer in the house at all.

Nope. Our only outside furniture is two wooden rocking chairs on our front porch and they stay right where I put them. We have a light breeze and 84F now.

Oklahoma is a very windy state so we have to be pretty careful. Looking out the “patio” sliding glass door I can see the big trees are whipping around. That’s always kept me from putting anything outside my front door.

@Traceyjayne I really wish the Amazon delivery drivers would place our envelope packages in the clip management puts by everyone’s door. When it’s one of those light envelope deliveries they just fly away. I’ve had to chase some down the stairs before. Hair flying, envelope flying, and just as I was about to pick it up, it takes off again.

I wouldn’t keep plastic tables and chairs outside in the UK. It’s always windy, and more so I think these days. You need heavy metal furniture outside and a nice soft cushion to sit on, which is best tied to the chair. I once tried putting a shed together in high winds and one of the panels took off into the neighbours garden. There was two of us holding each end but we couldn’t fight the strength of the wind. Trying to hold on, we nearly got blown with it. Had to give up for another day when it was calmer. Waited about 3 months if my memory is correct.

@JudyEv Too right, Judy. They act as sails and the power of the wind is not to be underestimated by us weak humans.

We would always choose a calm day for any building work. It can get pretty hairy of you have sheets of corrugated iron to contend with.

The better quality items are in the ' bunker '. I'm at the caravan and the plastic table and chairs are on the balcony....they get put out at the start of the season and stay out til we close the caravan at the end of the season Usually they are quite okay there. It saves the faffing about if we just leave them.out. The good stuff gets put away at the end of the day ....

Thank goodness other losing a baseball cap fly away from my head that was given back to me by my kind next door neighbor, I seldom lose items due to high winds.

The Mister wears a cap constantly and he has had to run after it a few times recently due to the wind

It's amazing how strong the winds can be. We've had chairs blow over on our patio. And quite big pot plants.
