Are first impressions accurate?

There is a common saying that first impressions matters a lot, which means people are often quick to judge you based on how you are dressed even before they actually get to know you. I remember i had a friend in high back then, during one of our chats, she asked if the person she is chatting with is the real me or if the version of me she sees in school is the real me. Turns out her first impression of me was that i was not friendly cause apparently i rarely smile or talk in public. While first impressions aren't always right, it can still determine how people view you and most times we might not have the chance to correct their wrong impressions.

Yes, you're right. I'm actually kind of shy but online I don't mind talking a lot... Nobody knows who I am online so I'm not embarrassed about talking a lot and teasing people I don't really know. Do you think you'll ask the young lady out on a date? Is she cute? Is she friendly? Was she shy in school when you met her?

Hahaha, i can relate with that, i am usually shy and quit offline, but online i tend to talk a lot as well. As for the young lady. It was a very long time ago though, it's been years. I did tell her i had a crush on her at one point but she said she didn't like me in that way, but got offended i was no longer giving her attention like i used to, later i didn't press on the matter we just remained friends. We still talk once in a blue moon now though. With life and everything we have very little time to chat and since it's been years our chat feels somewhat distant, so most time i choose not to start a conversation.

@eLdav1s I totally understand that. One woman and I were good friends and I started teasing her almost grown son that his mom and I were getting married... I asked him if he wanted to start calling me "Dad" or just keep calling me "DE"? His mom thought that was funny when the boy asked if he could think that over. His mom was more like a sister to me than anything else.

I would say it's about half the time they are accurate. Many things can influence that first meeting
