Like a House of Cards

I was just chatting with @JudyEv about the poor air quality in Ontario currently.
We have almost 200 wildfires burning here in our province. Due to the drought, brought on by a lack of rain, and very hot weather, it takes very little for a forest fire to ignite. A lightening strike, and the fire gains in strength because these wildfires are in a region that is very sparsely populated.
I watched a US news show yesterday, and all that they could do was complain, and shake their heads wondering why the Canadians haven't put out the fires yet. Undetected fires burn until detected. Much of our countryside has very low population, so no people to report fires burning, and no fire stations to call in the immediate area.
This plume of smoke in my region has travelled from a northern area. The scary thought is that we had originally considered going up in that direction this week. Thankfully we did not due to other circumstances.
We would have been able to stay at our destination, we would not have been able to do many things that tourists tend to like to do in that region, they would be closed. Many of the outdoor construction sites will be closed today all summer day camps have been cancelled. Anyone living in a dwelling without operating a/c will not be able to open their windows, regardless of the heatwave, due to the warning to keep windows and doors shut due to the particles in the air, and that goes the same for anyone without a/c in their vehicles.
In some ways it reminds me of the lockdown that we experienced in the spring of 2020. That differed as we could not come into contact with others, but for some, living in these conditions must feel very similar.
I am thankful for central a/c as well as for good, working a/c in the SUV. I am also thankful that I have a good supply of N95 masks, as I will need them when I venture out later on.

It is ridiculous that in the US they shake their heads wondering why the Canadians haven't put out the fires yet. Why they did not put out the fires in California when it happened in their country?
Stay inside if the air is bad, it's dangerous to go out and pray for rain.

That is a good question, one that Ron likes to bring up.
Some are repeating what their ever-so-intelligent leader would say.
The reality is that our world is burning up, such hot and dry weather is as a result of global warming.
I will not go out except to drive to his home.
It smells like a campground here today, that unmistakable awful stench of burnt wood is so strong.

My apologies for the stupid US news station, it's a shame the media is not monitored properly to prevent insulting or false information. I miss the days of journalists like Walter Cronkite whose only mission was to report the news, not to get ratings.

Wildfires start the same everywhere. I never wondered why they do not get reported as it happens here too. I think the ones complaining are the ones that think they have all the answers here.

I was going to ask if you were using masks when you go out. I haven't heard anyone complaining here, just accepting it for what it is. It does seem these fires are more frequent now than when I was young. I am sure our changing planet has something to do with it. House of cards that is my life in a nutshell.
