Eli Built A Computer...

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? My son has been obsessed with technology and playing games for years now. Recently, he wanted either a gaming computer, or to get the parts and build one himself. It did seem cheaper to go the route of him building his own. He is so smart when it comes to this kind of stuff. He did all the research to know exactly all the parts he needed. We did get the majority of them refurbished because that was cheaper. Only part that I think we got 100% new was the computer case that all the parts go inside. As he got each part he would put them on the motherboard, until we got the case (almost the last piece). Then tonight his final piece arrived - the power supply. He still needs a monitor, but he can use his TV for that for now. He also needs a better graphics card (according to him) but we went with a cheaper one so he would have one. Only problem he found was the hardrive, or whatever has the operating system, came with a corrupted windows file so he has to fix that. Yes, he knows how to do that too. He thought one of the ram sticks was broken, but he just had it in wrong and he got that fixed. Do you know anyone his age (12) that could build their own computer? Could you? I know I definitely couldn't! Photo is of Eli recently.

With the help of a friend my grandson put together his own computer a few years ago in his higher teens. He has always been into technology. He helps me all the time online. These kids. You must be very proud of your son. Sounds like your son's computer came along nicely.

that is good to hear that they figured out how to do it together. and that he helps you online. I am, he is a genius with tech stuff. The geek squad offered to help him build it but nope he did it all on his own.

What's a pity? What do I want? Well I don't think most could, unless that was their interest. I'm proud that he could do it, all from scratch.

Computers are complicated pieces of electronics. I used to work in the industry and they are beyond anyone now to actually build one. It’s more like a puzzle you have to solve to connect the right things together.

Oh really? Well my son built one from scratch...at 12 years old. But he loves building things. He likes figuring things out. He'll do the research.
