Touring a sailing ship

Yesterday the training sail ship, Leeuwin, was open to the public so we went to Fremantle to have a look. It isn’t a replica but was designed as a training ship. There does seem to be an awful lot of ropes. I imagine it would take a while to get to know exactly what to do and when, when hoisting sails up and down.
The ship sleeps school parties of 40 at a time and the collage shows one of the ‘bunk rooms’. Top left you can see two bunks but there is a third that hinges up against the wall under the lower one. It is brought down when they need it. Top right shows the kitchen. Vince was drooling over the huge oven. There were a lot of books on various shelves and I liked the crocheted, short-legged octopus in the lower right photo.

The guitar and octopus would take a tumble if they hit rough seas. Good thing it's just a training ship!
I don't think I'd like being in the galley when they hit rough water! No telling what would come flying at you then!

All I know is all boats have lots of ropes. You ever seen actually big fishing vessels, the amount of rope they have is amazing. I can barely tie my shoes let alone know how to do all the crazy knots and all the things they do with the ropes.
Why I never joined the navy. I would end up hanging myself or be dragged by the boat for tying the knots wrong.
They had that on the deadlier catch. I do not think he had to do with tying knots but kid got caught up in the rope and rope pulled him over board and rope ended up getting stuck in engine and tangled the kid more where he drowned. Nearly drowned, I guess he did not drown but was close.
There is a reason they do all that training and it just does not sound fun or worth it to me.

I was going to say, that's quite a nice kitchen. I didn't know boats had nice kitchens like that!

Cruise ships have crazy kitchens and bars, but they still have a lot of rope on it. Apparently you need a lot of rope when you go to sea. I do not even know how I know that and its no wonder it became such a metaphor lets just give them just enough rope.
Again I make bad jokes.

The octopus is really cute!! During nights and on sea/ocean, it would be scary!

I love that cotipus, I would feel better on that ship than taking a plane to anywhere these days.

@JudyEv Oh for a long sea voyage. Not one with discos etc of course. Just a skilled crew who would ignore me and let me sit looking pensively out to sea, their busyness contrasting with my indolence as we would sail round the Cape of Good Hope and over to the Malabar coast.
