Nextdoor is no longer Nextdoor

So, people who live in the US are mostly familiar with Nextdoor which is kind of a digital news letter for those who live in nearby communities, and it used to be just that. All of a sudden they are incorporating areas from far away. Just this morning they had one in there from 45 minutes away. Why? I don't call that Nextdoor. I have noticed a lot of others like that the stuff they write about isn't relevant to this area so why have it in? It never used to be that way..now when someone is writing in you don't usually know the things they are talking about. Do you find that as well if you use Nextdoor?

I keep getting invitations to sign up but I ignore them. It just sounds like a way for everyone to spy on and report each other for anything and everything. At least that's what it sounds like to me. So I stay away.

It isn't like that at all. It is about people helping people with referrals, lost pets, community events etc.

@snowy22315 - Like Craigslist on a smaller scale? The way people are these days, my mind automatically went to spying and reporting.

I've never heard of that newsletter. I'm sorry it's gotten to be not so Nextdoor anymore.

I am sure you have one there. It can be useful and you get a lot of information about your area that way. Things you wouldn't know about otherwise.

Never heard about that, we don't have that here. Maybe something happened to those managing it. I hope not, and may they continue the best service they did the first.

I wonder why? It is very common here. I have gotten some good tips on there. Also, I found out about Bunco which I used to participate in on there.

It is a great way to find out about stuff going on in your community...repair people to use etc. People also post pets on there usually they are lost..but some give them away as well.

I've noticed that too. It seems like Nextdoor has changed quite a bit from what it was originally intended to be. The whole idea was to connect people with their immediate neighborhood, share local news, recommendations, and alerts that actually affected those living nearby.

We have a local FB page but it seems to stick to our locality.
