Help! They're Shooting me! / myLot

Well, they will be in about an hour. My first stop at 9:40 am is the orthopedic doctor to get a cortisone injection in my left knee. He gave me the shot in my right knee about 2 months ago and it was GREAT! It's like a brand new knee. Now the left knee is hurting in the same way the right one was (arthritis) and I have a trip coming up that's going to require a lot of walking, so I need the shot in the other knee now. The next stop is the allergist's office where I will receive two shots - one in each arm - for allergies. I have to get these shots every two weeks. I started out about 2 years ago getting them 3 times a week until I reached a certain point then once a week now once every two weeks. I haven't had any allergy problems since taking the shots. After all that I'll be meeting my friends to play cards like we do every Thursday.

I hope you feel much better after getting your shots. I used to get an allergy shot once a week but had to drive to Springfield (70 miles one way) to get them. Then the doctor decided it would be okay for me to get the shot in the hospital in the next town over from us (12 miles one way). When I started having trouble with my eyes all the time, I couldn't make that drive so asked if I could get the shots in the hospital a block away or if Pretty could give them to me. He agreed that Pretty could be trained and the shot mailed to me but the place that provided the shots refused to mail them to me so I had to stop getting them. Now, I keep Epi-pens on hand just in case. I had to use one last week when I couldn't breathe... (At least Medicaid pays for the Epi-pens now. When they first prescribed them for me, I had to pay $600 for two Epi-pens... I couldn't afford that now.)

It's definitely not always fun to have to do this, but if it helps, then that's the main thing. Hope you have fun playing cards with your friends.

It sounds like you have a busy but productive day ahead. I'm glad the cortisone injection worked so well in your right knee, and I hope you get the same relief in your left. Having both knees feeling better before a trip that involves lots of walking should make a huge difference.
