Five persons who were aboard a 42 foot fishing boat that caught fire in the ocean in off of Murrell Inlet in South Carolina on late Thursday morning when Murrell Inlet-Garden City firefighters closed the hatches aboard the boat to put out the fire before first responders arrived to rescue the five persons aboard the boat safely. The owners of the boat are working with a salvage company to remove the boat from the area where the fire began in the engine aboard the boat as the boat remains in the area of the fire. Employees of the Marine Emergency Response Team (MERT) were in the area when they received an emergency alert from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) when they went to assist the firefighters to rescue the five persons aboard the boat. No one was hurt in the accident. Link is msn.com/en-us/news/oth...

That is very true since first responders know the rule that seconds count in an emergency.

Its that time of year. South Carolina has one, glad the firefighters helped that person. You ever look at the map. Its not been bad here but we in for 13 days over 100, I am sure that will change. https://firms.modaps.eosdis.nasa.gov/usfs/map/#d:24hrs;@-108.2,38.2,5.9z

Probably a defective engine aboard the boat caused the fire.

One good thing is they could have jumped into the water had their clothing caught fire

I would hate to be on a boat and have it catch fire.
