You should have more children!

There was this woman in her 70s that I was talking to last year. She told me she had a son who died from suicide, a son in jail, a daughter working abroad, and another daughter living with her.
She told me I should have more kids after learning I only have one. Her reason: I would be devastated if I lost my one and only son.
She said she was ok when her son died because she still has other children who will take care of her.
Now, I never really considered having more children so that I would be fine when I lost one. I did think of having two or three children that I had hoped to cherish but I was only blessed with one.

That's a very old arkic way of thinking if you ask me. Women don't need to produce kids, and some women shouldn't be parents. The world isn't like it was when that woman was young. No wonder.

True. And our children aren't our slaves. We raise them to become their own person and not raise them so somebody could take care of us when we get old.

Thats a crazy mindset but it shows humans are truly animals. I was watching a documentary on wolves or bears or something. how other predators go after their offspring. they almost do not flinch if they have another one. If kill the last one, lord have mercy on your soul.
Whales and elephants, you kill just one the amount of grief is known. Elephants and Orcas get their whole family together and you best not get in their way.

Everyone has their own ideas and wishes. I can see her point but, like you said, you were blessed with one.

Wow! I lost my first son but having another child didn't help when I was sick with grief.

I have seen parents lose all their four kids in one night and I have seen the only kid of another parent survive against all odds. I understand her point but I don't really go by it. Do what works for you. If you want only one kid, then it's fine. Just pray for Gods s protection over him. I want only two kids and that's me.life happens though
