Coupons were applied but didn’t seem to be

I was trying to place an order at Walgreens. I clipped two coupons. One was for $3, the other for $2. It was showing that the coupons were applied. I proceeded with the order and when it was time to place it the button you had to press to finalize the order showed an order amount that was not $5 less, as if the coupons were not applied. I removed everything from the cart and tried placing the order again but same result. At first I thought of placing the order in hopes that maybe it’s some sort of a glitch and the final total would actually include the five $5 deduction. But then I changed my mind. In the event, my order would not be -$5 I wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. I thought perhaps it didn’t work because the coupons could only be used in the actual store so I went to my local branch. One of the items that I wanted to buy was actually more expensive in the store than it was online, so I changed my mind about getting it. And because of that, I decided not to get the other item either. I’m not even sure if the coupons would’ve worked in the store.
