Drama this morning

I headed downstairs this morning for breakfast. I wait until like 10 minutes before it is served because I don't talk to anyone and the TV shows/movies that the others are watching aren't anything that interests me. Once I got down there I walked over to the front desk to sign up for a phone call time slot. I noticed one of the techs sitting with a woman. As I walked by I heard "you stupid b!tch! There isn't anyone there." I was dumbfounded.
As I was signing up the tech came out of the vestibule and told both me and a guy that we had to clear out and go into the community room because we didn't "know what was about to go down." So we went in there, the rest of the patients filed in, and they literally locked us in. That was unsettling. Eventually I heard crashing and screaming. After about 10 minutes the doors opened and it was announced that breakfast was ready.
While I was eating the tech who told us to clear out was on the phone at the other end of the table. She said "yeah I had someone jump in the water". This place is right on the edge of the bay. Somehow this woman got out the front door (you can't go out without someone using their key card), ran around the building, jumped into the water, and started swimming toward Atlantic City.
I have no idea how they got her back but needless to say she was sent to the hospital for a psych evaluation. I've seen some pretty intense freak outs in detox but I think that one takes the cake. I mean I didn't actually see it but it is the craziest episode I've heard of.
I texted my mother about it and she was horrified. I texted my ex and he thought it was hysterical. I'm somewhere in between. Clearly the woman is struggling with detoxing but jumping in the water and trying to swim away to escape is a pretty funny idea.

I’m sorry it happened. I saw a thing on Facebook today that Elton John is celebrating 36 years of sobriety today. Some people can’t make it 36 seconds. (I remember Warren Zevon saying when he was trying to dry out, “I decided to give myself a little rope. By the end of the evening, of course, I was hanging from it.”

Yes, that would tickle my funny-bone. I might have been worried if I'd seen it, though.
