I've never paid any attention to Tai Chi (or chai tea as a friend inadvertently referred to it once in company) until last night: not because of any opposition but because it never interested me. I've seen people practising it in parks and thought it all to be a bit odd and just for people who were beyond ordinary exercise.
Late night however, as I lay in bed awaiting the usual female company, a thing popped up in my phone and it drew me in. In no time I was sitting up in bed following some man in a tai chi routine.
It was all very gentle and willowy and I don't know what my female company would have thought had she walked in on me doing my impersonation of a windmill. The routine included using the bottom half of the body which really could only be done in a standing position but I adapted and accommodated because I didn't want to get out of bed. This went on for 20 minutes or more.
The expected lady eventually arrived and some semblance of decorum returned to the boudoir but that's where I draw a curtain on the night's activities.
Then came morning. I struggled to get out of bed. I struggled even more to reach far enough to pull on socks, trousers etc. All my muscles were complaining which worried me until I remembered my nocturnal Tai Chi - that's the only reason I can think of that might account for the pain.
Have you ever tried Tai Chi - or even Chai Tea? How was it for you?

I have tried and enjoyed it. I can see where a person would have some aches and pains the next day. You use some less common muscles than usual exercises.

It's all the rage right now. I am thinking about trying chair yoga. I refuse to get down on a mat. There's a place about 2 miles from me that will give me unlimited yoga classes for 2 weeks for $39.
