I have never seen a pupa transform into a butterfly, but it happens.

I guess it chose to emerge at a time when no one would be watching, which makes sense since it’s natural to see them like this. When they first come out of their pupa, they’re at their most vulnerable and could easily fall prey to predators lurking nearby.
