Some of you may remember that I talked about my son having his eye hemorrhage a few weeks ago. Out of the blue and for no reason that anyone can find, his eye had a huge hemorrhage one night. It was a lot of blood, and it was scary. Of course we went to the hospital, had two days of scans and tests and such, it happened a few more times, and finally slowed. It would stop at times for several hours, then start again, although slowly--not like the original hemorrhage. We have had to go back to the ER twice for this, after the two day visit. Since then, I have taken him to two eye specialists. No one can figure this out!! Not the ER doctors, not the specialists, nobody! Now they have some big whig eye specialist that comes once a month, so he is going to have us come in and see him.
It was discussed that I should take him to Chicago, but there will be a wait on that, too. Chicago is several hours away, he doesn't really travel well right now, and it just doesn't sound like the best idea. They want us to wait on what son calls ''the special specialist.''
Today he had a double iron infusion. He was camped out at the treatment center--when they do a double infusion, it takes 2-3 hours. And since he was going to be there that long, it seemed to be a great time for Mom to go to Aldi and get some much needed food. (I have several insulated tote bags, etc. for these trips since we won't be home for a bit.) It didn't take me long, and I headed back in plenty of time. When I got inside the center, I went to where he was and there was a doctor, I think 4 nurse-type of people, and a bunch of fussing going on, monitors, etc. His eye hemorrhaged big time and scared him and all of them. We ended up being there for a lot longer than we planned. It was discussed that he be admitted again, but the attending physician said that since nothing was discovered and they still haven't found the source of this mess, we could come home until tomorrow.
A long day. He wanted to sit on the couch, said he wasn't tired. But he is asleep on the couch. I will be keeping my eyes on him.
Hey, at least we aren't bored!

I am so sorry to hear such bad news. Your poor son has so many problems and I understand that traveling is not easy for him right now, particularly with this heat. I can imagine that it was a scary event and I hope a special specialist can take care of your son as soon as possible.

@MarieCoyle - Your older son is right, you should not go there alone with your son. I hope they tell you in advance the day if needed, so that your older son can take time off from his work and come with you. Take care and try to rest.

@LadyDuck My older son doesn’t live very close by but he tries to help us if he can. He feels bad that he can’t be around more to help but his job is demanding of his time, for sure. Thanks, Anna.

I talked to my older son, he said if his brother has to go to Chicago, he will take both of us and then bring us back--but we will have to plan it ahead a bit so he can take time off from his work. He doesn't think I should take him up there alone right now, just in case something goes wrong and he starts feeling really bad and I am in thick and crazy Chicago traffic. It's just good to know if we have to go, this time he will take us there. Thank you, Anna.

Sorry to hear about the hemorrhage issue with your son. I hope it hasn’t affected his vision, or that he isn’t experiencing any vision problems. Hopefully, there are doctors who can figure out what’s going on and find a way to address the problem.

Son says if something unusual happens it seems to happen to him! Let’s hope he’s wrong and they find the reason for this problem. Thank you for the prayers, Amber.

At least they are still searching for the reason. I will be absolutely thrilled when they figure it out. Can't fix anything until they know what's happening for sure. Thanks.

I can’t help but wonder if it’s something related to his blood problem that is causing him to hemorrhage like that, when if you or I had the same eye problem thing without the blood problem it wouldn’t cause any problems. I’m glad that at least they’ve ruled out the most critical things that could be happening…but of course, that doesn’t help either of you because you still don’t know what it is…just a couple of things that it isn’t.

@MarieCoyle — I’m thankful that they eliminated the worst possible scenario first. I had a doctor like that, God rest his soul. It took them two and a half years to find out what was wrong with me, but I knew immediately what it wasn’t.

Of course We were so very thankful that it’s not a tumor or cancer! I am really hoping they can figure it out very soon. I’m sure sorry you had to wait that long for answers!!

I thought of that and so did my son. But so far they aren't leaning in that direction. He isn't on blood thinners. We want answers, of course.
That's why they call it ''practicing medicine''...ever evolving, good or bad, proven or experimental, we seem to have to follow the path to try to wait while they figure it all out. Thanks so much.

What a day-so sorry that he went through this just at the time when you were able to take a little time for something else. But, if it had to happen, better at the hospital than home. Shame it is happening, sending positive vibes and prayers to you both.

Julia, after we got home this afternoon, we came in and he said, if we don't take a nap we are going to fall on our faces! And he was right. We both had a nap and that helped a lot.
Yes, I don't like the ''at home'' hemorrhages at all, but they have happened since this started. Thanks so much, Julia.
