When I was a kid I was very fond of wearing pussycats! Wear a pussycat?!!! What we call a pussycat isn't actually a real cat but a headband. I don't know who told us it's a pussycatt. But I had plenty when I was a kid. Don't call them pussycats anymore though. I just call them headbands.

Maybe because of this? Headbands resembling cat's ears. That's why it's a pussycat.

That was the first time I’d ever heard that word; people can call it whatever they like, but "pussicat" sounds very strange.

There's a reason behind it and I know why I think. And have you read read Archie Comics? Have you heard of Josie and the Pussycats? They wear these headbands in the photo almost everyday.

Unless you're from my country, I don't think you could have.

It just happened because it has a cat ear.

In the words of Tom Jones: “What’s New Pussycat?” I thought for a moment you were trying to bypass (or is it “bypuss”?)the myLot profanity filters. I only know them as headbands.

nah was simply telling the truth of how headbands are called here. I think this photo will explain why they're called like that instead of headbands.

@Orson_Kart If I could find one, I'll try to wear and take a photo. It would be fun to post it on mylot.

Yeah it's only in my country where they call it pussycat. I was already in high school when I started using the word headband instead of pussycat.

@LadyDuck Yes and it all started from there. It became a common name.

@toniganzon May be a particular shape was in fashion and the band looked like the head of a pussycat.
