Shopping for car insurance is a nightmare.

Like everyone else in the free world, I want to spend the least amount of money on car insurance but have good service and coverage. Once upon a time, it wasn't so complicated, but in the world of the internet and so many companies having no virtual offices, you definitely pay if you google insurance rates. I made that mistake yesterday as I am shopping for a lower rate, of course. I have now received 17 texts from various companies, etc. to ''call me immediately!'' and a gazillion emails...we won't even discuss how many times the phone has rang. At least the spam thingy on the phone lets me know it's spam. Is this the turn off to you that it is to me? You can't just ask for information, they all want to talk you into what THEY think you need, not what you think you need. Am I the only one who thinks this is ridiculous?

It's too much to deal with all that crap. I changed insurance companies last year and I am not ever sure how I got them, but I am quite satisfied..significantly less than my last company. I think you should ask AI to help you find the company with the lowest rates..and also if there are features you can't live without add them as well. If you rather not want the hassle of switching, and you find a lower rate than you have now, you could always bring in to to the attention of your current company and see if they will match it. As long as your driving record is stellar..Erie insurance usually has the lowest rates.

I am making a list of possibilities, and Erie is on the list. Thanks so much.

I do that about every 6 months but I've learned to never give em a phone number. I got Geico about a year ago and although I did do that internet search for ins, I haven't received as many emails as I wooda if I'd given my phone number.

Yeah, that happened to me years ago but I finally wised up @MarieCoyle if they want a phone # I don't need them.

The search sites I used would not even give me a chance to send in the info I did give them UNLESS I put in a phone number. I wish I had not done that, I knew it would cause problems.

It IS ridiculous. You wanna know something more ridiculous? Once upon a time it was cheaper to have insurance through the son of my dad’s friend. Now it’s cheaper elsewhere. He won’t change because he doesn’t want to hurt their feelings. Only when he retires he HAS to switch because he no longer can afford what he has. I call that foolish, but maybe he’s just more loyal than me.

Where I used to live, I used a local insurance company that outsourced well for recommendations they had, and their prices were always the best. When I moved to a different area, my rates went up. Weird how that works, many areas have different insurance rates based on population, demographics, and traffic/accident statistics. Ugh. Yes, your Dad will have to shop hard for a new one.

You are not the only one, this is ridiculous. We should just state what we need and receive an offer, period.

Pretty much everyone I know, whether they have had accidents or tickets or nothing at all, have had a big rise in rates. It's reached the crazy point now.
