I think I found a solution.

So the pain relievers have worn off, and the infernal pain in the mouth and gums is back. Fortunately, my best friend, a nurse who is first and foremost and a fan of natural medicine recommended clove oil and vanilla. I ordered some clove oil and got it this morning. Alone, clove oil can burn your gums, but mixed with coconut oil or vanilla, and it takes away the pain. This will definitely get me through until tomorrow when I call the dentist. How often do you use “natural solutions”.

I remember being told to rub a smear of clove oil on the gums to relieve toothache. Recently when I offered fresh sage on Freegle a Russian lady arrived and filled a big bag, saying she needed it for her tooth problems.

@AmbiePam Searching online for sage and teeth seems to suggest that it does have healing and anti-bacterial properties. I'm sorry you're suffering so much.

I prefer natural to chemical. For gums there is also according to the net, Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties; mixing it with water to form a paste can be applied to the gums for relief.

I grew up with grandmothers around, and old-fashioned remedies were often the norm with them. Between the two of them, they had two home remedies for toothaches, until a person could be seen by the dentist. One was to dip a Q-Tip in whiskey or brandy and repeat as needed. I know we talked about this and no, I am not a drinker, either--but I do keep a tiny bottle of brandy to have for toothache emergencies. One of the grandma's would put a drop or two of full-strength vanilla in it, too. The other was clove oil, which also works well. That particular grandma would hold the tiny bottle under hot running water for a minute or two to warm up the oil first, she claimed it worked better if it was warm. I love natural solutions. Hey, don't forget that caffeine is a natural product, and it really can help at times with bad headaches!

I thought about the whisky, but I figured I could get the clove oil brought to my house while I’d have to brave the intense heat for the whiskey.

@AmbiePam Oh, all the Walmart stores here sell liquor, as does pretty much every grocery store. I don't really know what kind or brands or the prices, because other than the tiny bottle I keep, I don't buy it.

Clove oil is a great idea. I wish I would have thought of it. I use natural solutions pretty often..I don't like getting prescriptions for every little thing..especially when a natural remedy works similarly, and is usually not so harsh.

I've heard of using clove oil before for teeth issues but had forgotten about it.
