Although this wasn't the pic, someone on Nextdoor posted a pic of a Copperhead (poisonous snake) hidden in brown leaves. It was a large one and one who would certainly do some damage if stepped on. I know of someone who got bit on the toe by one on a warm Halloween night. Copperheads are brown and blend in well with downed leaves. I am going to have to keep my eye out because we have lots of brown leaves around and also Copperheads. I am glad someone posted the pic otherwise I wouldn't think to look.

Be careful, I hate snakes, they are very good in "melting" with the leaves or under the rocks.@snowy22315 (211511)

Although I haven't seen any supposedly there are quite a few in the sea wall along the lake shore.

@LadyDuck Small is bad, they could lurk anywhere. The thing with copperheads they have look alike snakes that aren't dangerous at all, so kind of hard to know what you are dealing with. Usually the ones I have seen have been cornsnakes which are not poisonous. Copperheads have a different shaped head..Regardless if it is a snake, I don't plan on getting close to it.

@wolfgirl569 Not a bad idea, but I usually don't spend too much time rustling around in the leaves. I was thinking of going behind the house to fill up the bird bath..though at some point. There are a lot back there..Maybe I can get the fountain disk going a little bit, since the birds aren't into the bath.
