Wheee! We had an earthquake this morning!

I was sitting at my desk, thinking about getting dressed for my opthamology appointment at Kaiser, when it happened.
OK, it was only a slight jolt, followed by maybe two or three seconds of shaking.
My pulse rate did not increase. Eeyore stood proudly on his shelf and did not fall..
I said to my self, "Eh, maybe a 4.0 at the epicenter. About 2.8 here." I could not,tell from which direction it came. Sometimes I can.
It turns out it was a 3.9 or so, centered about 50 miles Southwest of here. No serious damage, but some pictures did fall off of walls near the epicenter.
Have you experienced earthquakes? Do you enjoy them?

I have not experienced any earthquakes but I have seen television which is scary for the fear of building roofs falling on me.

@TheHorse It is scary seeing videos on the internet when buildings fall down when the eyewitness films the disaster.

I have had the floor move beneath me a couple of times when I lived in NYC. I wonder how this could affect California. Just read that Hawaii might get their first big hurricane in about 30 years,

I was in a small one in Nevada when I was a kid. It shook the house a little for a few seconds.

@TheHorse - After a few seconds, yes. Having never been in one, it kind of freaked me out for the first couple seconds.

Yes, and no. Personally, I found the aftershocks to be worse than the original quake.

What excitement. I was at home alone in the living room of the apartment i was living in back in the early 80s when things started rumbling, tipping. The floor lamp nearly tipped over but I caught it. It last only a few minutes and wasn't real shakey. We also had a slight one here a couple years ago. I can still remember one that happened when I was about eight years old. Have you been through many?

The last one I experienced that was quite strong happened at almost 10pm and we just ordered our food. Power went out right away. We got out of the house and our food came one hour late because restaurant staff all went out of the building. It was the first time we experienced such a strong earthquake that lasted awhile. But we were fortunate compared to other cities. They suffered a lot of damage and there were a number of deaths.

I've only ever experienced one which was very slight although it more or less demolished a small country town. And no, I don't enjoy them.

Did the earth move for you?
The earth has moved for me quite often.
But I have never experienced an earthquake
