Yesterday my Brother and Sister-in-law drove up from Guthrie so Robin could stay at the house with Bob and Renee and I could go to Winfield to tour the Veteran's Home.
I was a little down when we left, Bob had barely been out of bed in two days and had roamed some at night.
I liked the home. I feel that Bob would be cared for and safe there. I had all the documents with me I needed to start the process of having him move there.
I got home and Bob was up. His eyes were twinkling like his old self. When they left to go home he wanted a nap. He had barely eaten that day or the day before.
The nap was over about 6 and Bob ate pretty well for me. It was clear that he had enjoyed having Robin there. He went back to bed at 9 with very little trouble at all.
This leaves me feeling encouraged about how Bob will do at this Veteran's Home if he is accepted. They have a place he can be outside safely, and a library, and good, consistent staffing. He will get physical therapy there. Podiatry there.
I had scrambled the day before we went and found all kinds of documents that I MIGHT need. I filled out a lengthy packet. I had all the documents I needed.
Next step is the admissions person requests his records from the VA and sends in the packet. We get a care assessment for Bob. Care assessment has to be done for any nursing home admission.

I think it is encouraging that it seems like a nice, caring place. Is it close enough that you can go frequently to check on him?

Sounds liek you have found a good solution for Bob. What will you do when he moves there?
