Sorry, Charlie!

There used to be a commercial for Starkist tuna, and the tuna’s name was Charlie, and Charlie repeatedly tried to get the attention of the Starkist brand. At the end of every commercial a voiceover would say, “Sorry Charlie!” It got to be a running gag gag with me and mom mom when we’d apologize we’d just say Sorry Charlie! I said that once to a Mylotter and you’d have thought I’d have put a curse on him. Sometimes you just have to shake your head at people’s nonsense. Or, he just feels inferior to a person named, Charlie. I felt sorry for him, actually. I used to get PMs from people talking about how they couldn’t stand him. I don’t know why they told me. It’s not like I could do anything about it. It was sad though. Any memorable commercials lately? With streaming, you might not see any.

I don't know that I have seen that commercial. But that is very interesting about using the sorry Charlie. Sounds like fun times though! The liberty ones are usually pretty funny lol, the one where the guy messes up the name a lot

I remember teh commercials and we got a kick out of them, too. I haven't watched television in twenty or more years so don't ever see commercials except for the trashy ones myLot puts up. *shrug*

I remember the "Sorry, Charlie!" commercial, and I could never figure out why Charlie wanted to be eaten so badly. Maybe he didn't understand what was involved, lol

The kids and I said ''Sorry, Charlie'' for years to each other. It was a joke...because we had all heard that tuna commercial literally hundreds of times!

the commercials that come to mind are old commercials. They don't air them anymore

Those were great commercials! I don't watch much television at all anymore, so don't know what is currently out there.
