I’m in Pisa.

Oh yes, and I’m enjoying every minute of it, although the journey to get here provided me with many good reason to complain. The first offence of the day was the breakfast I suffered in Dublin airport at 4 am while others were drinking beer or wine. At 4 in the morning!!!. It was one of those dreadful places that “employs” robots to deliver food. Some people may think it’s cute, but not I. It’s just someone who likes that sort of thing solving a problem that doesn’t exist. I ordered a croissant with butter and when the robot delivered it the butter had melted on the hot plate so the croissant was swimming in melted butter. Furthermore the “coffee” (warming milky bilge) arrived 15 minutes before the croissant arrived. And I didn’t know how to make the robot go away once it had delivered my drowned croissant. It just stood there with a goofy grin on its pretend face till I eventually found a button marked “done”, pressed it and it said goodbye and departed. If I was given to salty language I would have told it quite rudely where to go. A disaster of a breakfast which was a bit of an indicator of what was to come. The flight was very trying. There were 4 very bouts of terrible turbulence. The plane was so violently thrown around that it jiggled my dentures free of the putty that’s meant to hold them together thinking place. But worse were the young children sitting in front of us. Suffice it to say that none of my 5 would ever have behaved this badly. And while mother tried her best the dufus of a father put on headphones, closed his eyes and went to sleep. But I’m here, and I’m enjoying it.

"O Pisa, vituperio delle genti" It seems that this phrase applies to the really bad start of your journey. I hope that at least you will be fine in Pisa.

@xFiacre - Italians were a lot more elegant in the past. Consider that there are also plenty of tourists in Pisa, more tourists than locals may be.

@LadyDuck Pisa is heaving with tourists (including me) and I’m the only one who brought nice respectable clothes! My observation is that older Italians dress much better than younger ones.

@ladyduck Things are fine now thanks, but there is no-one here making la Bella Figura! I suppose it must be too hot to wear nice clothes!

Of course, the dad left it up to the mom and made the rest of you endure his awful children. I’m glad you are having such an enjoyable time now that you are there.

Some Dads like to opt out of caring duties. How inconsiderate of him.

Sorry to learn that your vacation has some unusual activities but that comes with the territory. At least you are having a good time.
