Manosphere, looksmaxxing, bone-smashing - have you heard of these?

The photo has nothing to do with the discussion. So many new terms are creeping into everyday use and many of them are totally foreign to me. One of these is ‘manosphere’ which relates to websites, blogs and online forums which are in opposition to feminism and promote masculinity and misogyny. Manosphere followers may go for ‘looksmaxxing’, an online self-improvement practice promoted by the manosphere. Part of looksmaxxing might be ‘bone-smashing’ which caused my eyes to boggle when I first came across it. Turns out bone-smashing isn’t QUITE as bad as I thought. It’s not really bone-smashing but simply means continually tapping the face with a hammer to alter the structure. I suppose it works or surely people wouldn’t be doing it. I find it hard to believe anyone would do this. What is wrong with people nowadays? The photo is mine. When I despair of humanity, I turn to nature.

I only heard Manosphere, but I was not even sure what this word exactly means. Bone-smashing sound pretty bad and I cannot see how someone sane of mind would do that.

They don't actually 'smash' the bone but hope that the continual tapping on it will alter its shape.

@JudyEv - Even it they do not smash the bone, I do not believe that the continual tapping is really good.

I had heard of looksmaxxing, but I didn’t really know what it entailed. I think I can do without inflicting trauma on one’s self.

Injecting peptides is another of the practices. It's all so crazy.

A guy called Clavicular is an American influencer and, when he was a teenager, his Mum took his hammer away from him. It's mentioned here:

I think we might be hearing more and more of these terms over time.
