A scam involving gift cards

Another scam that is appearing in Australia involves gift cards. A man who bought gift cards from a major supermarket have found that, on opening the cardboard packaging on cards supposedly worth $2,000, the cards were for $200 and $500. In addition, both had missing digits and/or redemption codes. Just another thing to be aware of I guess. Do you often buy gift cards? I don’t although I’ve always thought of them as a good idea. The photo is mine of my vertical garden taken yesterday. I think it’s very similar to the last one I showed you.

I never buy gift cards. Should I do, I would buy at the store, they are not packaged there, you buy and they add the amount you ask. You can check immediately if it's correct.

I love vertical gardens. Gift cards? Hmmm…I probably bought one a couple years ago. Yes, for someone who needed groceries.

Gift cards are big business here, but I wish they were banned. They are a way for companies to collect cash without providing any kind of service or product, just a promise. That promise can disappear as soon as the company goes bust. Then you end up last on the creditors list with very little chance of getting your money back. Better to give cash or actually buy something tangible. BIG SCAM

I don't even remember the last gift card I bought. Probably around 2003 or so.
