Next Stop: The Big Apple!

Of course it’s only natural to travel from the Big Easy to the Big Apple. Now that we’ve had our musical adventures in New Orleans we’ll head to another “new” “big” town: New York City!
You’ll be amazed at some of the places NYC shows up in lyrics. 
Of course I can’t get to all of them (there is a Wikipedia page showing just how many songs have been done about New York…not including all the ones that mention it!), but I’ve got 30 for you.
Well…31. There’s always a teaser, and in this case, it’s Diana Krall (in memory of our dear myLotter Fredo, who loved her music so much), singing “Autumn in New York.” As September 1 is the first day of “meteorological fall,” it’s appropriate on every level!

I haven’t yet had time to visit all the New Orleans songs, despite the mention of hookers! Just shows you I’m getting old.

These are the lyrics that jumped into my mind when I read your post. I hope I haven’t ruined your 30 songs by mentioning it? Too late now! 
I love New York, and apart from the song above, I know quite a few others, and not all by Frank Sinatra. 
Don’t know this one by Diana Krall, but I’ll give it a listen as I like her.

Yes, Ella sang it. Along with Billie Holiday, Mel Tormè, Sinatra, Sarah Vaughn, Lena Horne, Rosemary Clooney, and about 400 others.

Yeah, that woman can flat-out SING. And she has a way of taking a standard and making it her own.
I like her husband (Elvis Costello) too.
