A strange car issue on the way home last night.

Friday we were in another city for an appointment for my son. It lasted way longer than we planned and it was nearly dark when we finally were able to get started for home. We stopped for a bathroom break, some cold water and then started out. I went to the edge of town on the surrounding parkway to the needed exit for my interstate, and the car warning light came flashing on. I couldn't take off down the interstate with a sickly son and a car that might have a big problem, so I zipped into the nearest parking lot so we could figure out the issue. It was an amber colored triangle with an exclamation point in the middle. We flipped out the manual book, as we had never seen this warning before. We also knew we could use the My Hyundai app on my phone, so son did the phone thing and I looked up the reasons the light could go on. It turns out if it's amber colored, you have a problem but your car will still run ok for awhile. Um, I still wanted to know what it was. He looked some more and I got out with the car still turned on, to check every light, every door, and the back hatch. I opened and re-shut them all. The lights were all fine, including the light to the license plate. I checked the gas cap as well. Back to the car, and by then son was flipping through buttons on the middle screen panel...it did a sort of running check. After some time, the car decided I had a brake light out in the back on the right side. I put the son in the driver's seat and went around to the back and when he pushed on the brake, sure enough that side has a burned-out light. It took a while to get this figured out as we had never seen that warning light on. I just had the car all checked not long ago, an oil change, etc. They checked every light and I know they all worked. I decided that I was going to go home with the little brake light out. It's not vital, and there was no place to go to get a new one at that hour, anyway! So that's what we did. We didn't get out today, but tomorrow I will go to O'Reilly's Auto store, which is luckily only a few blocks from home, they sell the bulbs and they will put one in for me. It's so nice that they do that. And the price difference between buying the bulb and them installing it for free, vs. the dealership doing it, is crazy. I will go to O'Reilly's. I am just thankful it wasn't something I had to get fixed right that minute. I wouldn't knowingly drive on a busy interstate without a headlight or something vital, but one tiny light burned out was fine for that trip. We were both so very happy it wasn't something bad and we could go home. Be it ever so humble, it was so nice to get home safely.
