Well sis once again is playing the role of the deranged tour director who wants to run every one ragged / myLot

She has these grandiose plans for a big group of us to go touring around Chicago after we get there. I mean I am going to be up at 4:30 and flying there and taking the train checking in etc. We are going out that evening to the Welcome party..which we have to walk there and back..not sure if I am going to be up to going to alot of touring in the city. The one member of the party has MS..I don't think he is going to be up for running all around the city..although he admitted he wanted to do something. I had visions of hanging around the hotel..maybe doing some nearby shopping or going to the pool. I really don't know how much energy I am going to have. I am not used to walking all day, and night. I would do something nearby..maybe I will be raring to go..but I think I am going to be in relaxation mode,,not on some kind of manic schedule.Do you have relatives like this?

I have friends like that but I'm totally different. I can go on holiday and just be in my room. Thats why I do my trips solo most of the times

I just want to take a couple of hours to unwind when I get there..not be worried about hanging out and running all over the city.

Yeah..I have relatives like that. Loves adventures while I'm not like that. .if walking all day is gonna exhaust you, then it's better to just say No

I guess my sister is a bit like that. We try to follow her example, except for my dad, if he’s not feeling it, won’t even even attempt to cooperate. He’s like, I’m tired. If you don’t get that, that’s not my fault. I wish I could do that.

None of my relatives are too bad. Instead of running around to see things,, the hotel may have a sight seeing tour on a relaxing tour bus that lasts a couple if hours. I stayed at a nice hotel many years ago with a Church Group, that had a tour on a tour bus. A couple of us in the group took the tour. It was nice not having to walk too far.

Usually those tours are half or whole days. If I could be on a bus where I just got off at stops of interest might be OK .but we have only maybe 4 hours.

She IS your sister, and she has probably been running on fumes for a few months now, but I would suggest calling her and just saying that you do not know how tired you will be but that you want to be fresh for the welcome dinner and politely opt out of sightseeing on this trip. I would appreciate it if someone close to me were so honest.

I said words to that effect, but more than me..the guy with MS concerns me as he will probably have been up since 4 AM flight left at 6:30,..and walking a lot..he might even have a cane at this point. He needs time to rest and recoup. She should get that. I don't know why she doesn't think of these things.

Guess you'll have to see how you feel once you land, get to the hotel, etc. Does sound like it could be an exhausting day especially with a welcome party planned for the evening.

Yes, I mean they will already be there so should be fresh..but the rest of us have to deal with the airport and its challenges before going there, have to take the train and will probably have to do a fair amount of walking and maybe again when we get there.
