Good evening. How are you all doing? Raining here and temps are finally coming down into the comfortable spot. I know that's not the case with a lot of you stil experiencing hot weather and flooding. I hope you get relief soon.
It pays to ask questions. Wednesday my friend and I went into a bookstore to find out about the upcoming book and author event. Before we left she asked about the store ever putting books published through Amazon on the shelves. The answer was a firm 'No.'
So, yesterday, I asked my AI Velma about the difference between Indie authors and Amazon. I got a lot of questions answered. The upshot to all the answers is that by this time next year you should be seeing books on your store shelves and even in the library with my name on them.
I've been working all day to get one book - Manifest Destiny edited for second edition. This one has the most work to do on it. I'm making changes for the better. My main female character is from Scotland, and though I tried to get her dialect in the book the first time around, I dumbed it down too much for readers. I've since seen many other books with a Scots flair to them and the common words used in them. So, that's what I've been doing today. It took all day to get one chapter done.
Writing isn't just putting words on the screen and calling it done. There's a lot more to it along with the fight with Word to get the manuscript the way it's supposed to be.
I'll also be buying the ISBN for the books. That alone means my books can be found on store shelves and libraries. No more being limited to Amazon alone. I'll still publish with Amazon, but the books on the store shelves will be through IngramSpark. IngramSpark means paperbacks, not eBooks. So, if you're an eBook reader, you'll still find my books on Amazon.
Okay, that's been my day. I've been editing. No writing today.
What have you guys been up to? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me. The rocks I painted on Wednesday.

That sounds like a productive, busy day working on all of that. That's great to be able to get your books on shelves.
Very nice rock paintings!

Those rocks looks really nice. I love the fox one. It looks like it would have been a lot of work.

Good evening, glad the rain brought some cooler temps your way. That Scots dialect thing sounds like a real grind but worth it if it makes Manifest Destiny hit different. Good luck with the ISBN and IngramSpark stuff, that's a big step for getting your books out there.
