Have you ever heard or been told. . .

Have you ever been told from any source that if the gas station you want to go to is getting it's underground storage refilled you should not fuel up at that time? I read or heard it somewhere. I need to fuel almost every day. The station I was going to use was being refilled. I can wait until tomorrow. The reason this is given as advice is that the turbulence of the gasoline flowing into the storage tanks stirs up sediment in the tanks and that if you fuel at that time you can get nasty stuff in your gas tank. I do not know if it is true. It seems to make sense to me, though. So I passed on fueling up today.

Just now
Never heard of this before, but if this is really true, the gas station should know this right? Why don't they take a day of for their refilling?

It actually sounds like it could make sense, so I probably would have waited as well. Better to be safe than risk getting sediment in the fuel system

I never really thought about it, and to be honest, I’ve not filled up my car with gas in six years. My dad likes to do it for me.

Well, I hope not. I fueled up the other day when they were filling the pumps on one side. I would have skipped it if I had heard that before.

I just asked George, who's been driving since he's been sixteen and he said he hasn't heard of that. In fact, it's not unusal to come across trucks coming with fuel. Especially right before or after a storm. we fuel up when we need to.

I have not heard of that, but it does stand to reason. I hope that the next time that you go to the gas station it is easy to fill up your car.

Heather, how many miles a day do you drive? That sounds like a lot of gas!

Yeah I heard that too, something about the sediment getting stirred up when they refill. Probably smart to just wait it out, better safe than dealing with gunk in your tank. Good call passing on it today.
