Today is His Day

Today is our son's birthday! 
He was way past due according to the date that the doctor gave me. His skin was a bit crinkly as a result of being overdue, and he slept more than not. He slept the night through from the day we brought him home. We had to wake him during the daytime for his feedings.
Fast forward all of these years and he is still the apple of my eye. I am proud of the man, husband, father that he has become. I wish him a very Happy Birthday and as he begins another wonderful trip around the sun.
For me, and my husband, today is our memory day. We remember, with great detail, many of the moments during the course of the day that he was born.

I hope he has a wonderful birthday.
As a fellow Mom, I know on their birthdays we do think about the day of their arrival, and how blessed we are to have our children.

I remember when my oldest had her first child, we were talking one day and she said that she didn't think about how hard it would really be to be a parent. She is a good mother, but she said it really hit her when the kids were getting older and in the teen years, worrying they might make bad choices. They didn't, but all parents worry.

Your words resonate with my experience as a parent.
My son was born after fourteen years of our marriage.
I worked sincerely before he arrived, but worked to live and not lived to work.
After he was born, I took care to spend as much time as possible with him and then he left home for studies and work before he was seventeen.
We care for each other, but lead independent lives in different countries.
