Who would you trust to pick your spouse? / myLot

Think about if you were or are single. Do you know anyone you would trust to pick your spouse? There have been many shows about meeting a potential life partner, and it reminds me of one dating show where the person’s church picked the person’s date (it was hosted by Jeff Foxworthy). Notice, I said date, not spouse. This was just a cute little blip of a show. I didn’t watch it, but it made me think of who I’d trust to pick out my spouse. I would have trusted my mother, no doubt. She was such a good judge of character, and she knew me so well.

Only I alone could choose my spouse. I feel blessed that I chose my husband wisely. No regrets.

It is such a special connection, words cannot really describe it, and as it is, I would only trust myself. The chemistry as well as many other factors have to be there so that you still feel those butterflies decades later.

Well, sure, and I wouldn’t want anyone really choosing for me. But it makes for a fun question.

I’m thankful even parents don’t decide spouses anymore, no matter how well my mom would have done.

I wouldn’t trust anyone with that decision. The entire idea of it reminds me of arranged marriages. I know there are some people here on mylot that have spoken of those, but I would want to pick my own, be it a date or a spouse.

Honestly this got me thinking, I'd probably trust my closest friend more than myself with something like that. My mom too actually, she always saw things in people before I did. Never watched that show but the concept alone is kind of wild to think about.

When I think of my church, I’d probably trust them more than some professional matchmaker. They know the first thing he’d need to have is a shared devotion to God.

No, absolutely not, I would trust no one, only myself. I would have not trusted my mother at all. I would have accepted a "suggestion" from my Dad, but my final decision would have been only mine.

Choosing your spouse is really too personal. No one may know better than you. There is a sort of incredible feeling when you meet the right man. It's something I cannot describe.
