And we’re off! Not to New York, except in song. No, I’m going on a little jaunt that’ll be quite dependent on what that Pacific hurricane does in the Midwest. But first, a doctor’s appointment! But before that, music! Here’s the penultimate visit in song to the Big Apple. #2: What Are You Doin’ in My Life? - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers I had a dilemma. There were two really terrific Tom Petty songs that I knew right off the top of my head that mentioned NYC. Which to use? I flipped a coin and this one won. I decided that I’d make sure that the other one gets used, so it’ll be along next month when we go Hollywood! I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to “insist” on personal tastes, chiefly because they are just that. Having said that, Petty’s third album, Damn the Torpedoes, is one I’d suggest to “everybody” to give a listen. It was his breakthrough, with hits like “Don’t Do Me Like That” and “Refugee.” The real treats, though, are some of the album cuts. That includes my favorite Petty song, “Louisiana Rain,” and this one (which would be in the top ten). What a rockin’ tune about getting rid of a stalker! What Are You Doin’ in My Life?
