I was mentioning to Kandase, this 89 year old friend that I have, never goes to the doctor. She is very thin, appears very healthy for her age and is very active. She replies on garlic for health. Apparently, at one point though not sure when, probably years ago, She almost died, so I don't know if she was under a doctor's care at that point..or what? And maybe after that experience is why she decided not to go again. I just don't know. Do you know people who never see a doctor? Do they appear healthy? Do they use alternative health remedies?

@snowy22315 I haven’t been in years. I’m just never really sick. That’s apart from the big kidney stone episode of 2006 - you probably heard me squealing over there but since that I’ve been disease free. Had the usual childhood stuff - mumps, measles, malaria etc of course. I do appreciate how fortunate I am.

@snowy22315 Good gracious no! If I feel ill I’ll certainly see the doctor and it’s his job to take my BP. An elderly gentleman I know told me one day that both he and his wife who are both diabetic check each others BP and urine every morning!!! They’ve been married 60 years so checking each other’s wee wee must be the secret to a long marriage.

@xFiacre HBP doesn't cause you to feel ill, but if stroke and heart attacks don't run in your family, maybe you don't need to. I would want to get at least a baseline though. It just makes sense.

Other than the two or three people here who brag about never going, I don’t think I do. I remember my dad never going. It wasn’t until he had pancreatitis that he stepped foot in a medical facility other than visiting people, in probably 15 years. He just never got sick. Of course, after that he got cancer, and more visits followed, but for a very long time he was just content to stay without a doctor.

I don't get sick either as a rule, but my BP is a concern. That is the main reason I go.

I didn't go when I was younger. It sounds like she is doing something right

Yeah, it is probably right for her, but don't know if it would be right for everybody. I think she only weighs maybe 85 pounds. She can't afford to lose an ounce for certain, which may be dangerous in itself.

In mu homevillage some older generation never go to see doctor. First because of the distance. Second many people still believe in traditional medication third they think doctor is expensive

No, I don’t. I’m in the senior citizens department, and we all have multiple doctors to see!

That helps, but I hope he is taking his BP at home. Much better safe than sorry.

That's amazing I am concerned that the thin person above is too thin though. Her body quite obviously doesn't have any reserves should she even get a bad flu.

@snowy22315 - You are right being concerned for that person. I really try hard to get all the nutrients I need from the food I eat.

Oh well friend and the doctor .most here have heard of that saga. I give up honestly..on that and other things. You can lead a horse to water..but you can't make them drink.

You probably should. My son hasn't been to the doctor since he was a kid either. He's a weirdo though, what can I say?

I promise I’m not a hypochondriac, but it seems like the doctors are always sending me out to other specialist and always finding something to give me more medicine for
I’m about a minute away from just quitting taking all my medicine and never going to the doctor again I’m so tired of it

ME! I am very healthy, I check my BP, heart rate and oxygen every day.
Health remedies? Not really, I eat healthy, I have never been sick during the past 50 years.
