The Mail

Do you go get your mail every day? I am guilty of not doing it but maybe twice a week, but I should probably do it every day. Mylotter Stacey teases me about letting it go too long, which I do. Although, if someone tells me specifically they sent something I’ll make a point to get it in case one of my neighbors decides today is the day to steal it.
Maybe your mail is the old fashioned kind where the mailbox is right next to your front door. My late grandma’s was like that. It always seemed charming to me, but a lot of work for the mail person.

I check the mail every day. It's an event when you are old lol. Never expect anything but bills and statements but once in awhile a pleasant surprise.

@JohnRoberts Oh, my word. Since one of their employees stole six of my thick, 3D Christmas cards thinking they had gift cards in them (one did), and they apologized 3 months later for it, I’ve been stunned at their inept service. Ripped letters, someone else’s mail, things that never arrive…you’re right. It’s appalling.

@AmbiePam Thank you. Another reason why I check the mail every day is to keeps tabs on appalling USPS service.

When we had the Post Office box, I only picked up the mail once or twice a month. Now that I got rid of the PO box, our mail comes right to our house and the mailbox is hanging beside our front door. (Some days I have to fight with the door to let me back inside the house if I go to check the mail.

I have had to wait until Pretty heard me and held the door open to let me come back inside. Then she gets the mail for a few days until I can manage it again.
When we first moved into this house, my ex would come by while I was at work and steal our mail. I didn't realize she was doing that until a friend at the utility company called and asked why I wasn't paying my gas and electric. Then I paid for the Post Office box so she couldn't access our mail.
I can leave the mail in our box now because Patsi moved to Hawaii.

@ambiepam Our mail lady walks up the garden path, opens the front door and throws the mail into the living room. Amazon guy does the same. Maybe one day they’ll open my mail for me and pay whatever bills they come bearing. First time the Amazon guy walked in on me in the kitchen I was left speechless.

Our mail comes through our door. But we have the opposite problem nowadays; the Post Office seem to save it up and only deliver it once or twice a week. And often we get a bundle with mail for neighbours and even random people further away as well!

Oh, now that’s annoying. MarieCoyle has that same problem. She’ll get mail from people she has no idea where the location is in or a neighbor’s down the road. I don’t know what goes though the minds of these post offices. They’re so inefficient.

We get our mail pushed through a letterbox on our front door. I love the way you say it’s ‘ a lot of work for the mail person ‘. It’s commonplace here.
We only get mail a couple of times a week …..down to the post office and their collection and delivery schedules.

I’m not sure your neighborhoods are as massive as they are here? During the World Cup, some Englishmen went viral for going to American neighborhoods and marveling at the size. Because back in the fifties, it WAS commonplace here. We’ve just exploded in population over the decades (as most countries have).

@AmbiePam no, in comparison, we are tiny…..houses and streets are closer together ….its easier for our Postman to walk around delivering the mail.
