Do you think you are susceptible to the placebo effect?

I can feel badly for those in medical studies who get the placebo, and because of that, if the medicine works, they won’t be the one receiving the benefit. I’ve often wondered if I would be susceptible to the placebo effect. Do you think you would be?

That’s a good point. With so little medicine ever taken, you’d probably be very aware of feeling different.
Every day feels so vastly different to me that I wonder if I’d just assume it was something significant instead of a placebo. Even though I’d like to think I’d read myself better.

Maybe, I really don't know. If I'm given pain meds, I have to ask for the maximum dose because I don't feel the analgesic effects very easily. Other types of meds work well enough for me, though.

@AmbiePam The doctor, when I had carpal tunnel surgery, prescribed hydrocodone for me. It didn't work for me, either. When I told the doctor he could have his pills back, he laughed and said he could tell I wasn't a doper because they loved hydrocodone. I ended up taking three extra strength Tylenol tablets to dull the pain.

You know I have no idea. Could be if you are forewarned so it gets in mind.
